Helping rural couples feel more connected

Living in a remote or rural location can add extra pressures to a relationship.

We have had many couples attend our retreats from Karratha, Broome, Jurien Bay, Margaret River, Albany, Esperance and even as far away as New Zealand!

Through their experiences we have learned the challenges they face living outside of the metro area and the benefits they have found from attending our Retreat.

Read on to learn how our intensive two day course will teach you about relationship dynamics, and about the way our own history impacts our emotional triggers and relationship patterns.

Reasons to consider a relationship retreat

  1. Privacy

A lot of people in rural and remote areas feel uncomfortable confiding in the local therapist and worry about confidentiality.

Attending our retreat, allows you to completely remove yourself from your town and worries about privacy.

2. Conflict of interest

If one member of the couple already sees the local therapist this can create some complicated issues. Seeing the same therapist for couple therapy can be unethical or at the very least awkward.

Attending the Retreat allows you to maintain the individual relationship you have with your therapist, while being able to safely engage in couple therapy.

3. Time

It is difficult to make a regular time work with both of your busy schedules. This is not an issue only affecting people that live remotely, but is certainly a big one we hear about a lot. Being able to dedicate a couple of days to your relationship, where you can get away from day to day life, helps create big shifts in your relationship.

4. Online therapy is not for everyone

We can’t ignore the fact that the emergence of online therapy has helped so many people across the country. But lets be honest, it’s not ideal. As therapists, we find that it is particularly difficult to build rapport when you have never met the couple in person.

Coming to our two day retreat allows us to build strong rapport with you, to really get to know you both. So when it comes to any follow up sessions, we are all much more comfortable to do these via online if required.

How much does it cost?

Is a couples counselling retreat right for us?

Our Relationship Retreat has been developed for all couples in a committed relationship and is suited to couples of every age, ability, and sexual orientation.

If you have a strong relationship, this workshop will provide you with insights and tools to foster further closeness, friendship, and trust. If your relationship is distressed, this two-day retreat will provide you with a greater understanding of your relationship and a road map for repair.

This retreat may not be appropriate for couples that are in crisis, dealing with addiction, domestic violence, or other serious relationship issues. In those situations, we may recommend seeking counselling with Tracey, Tina or with another therapist. The preservation of your relationship is of paramount importance to us.

All work is done as a couple. Tracey and Tina are available throughout the process to support you during exercises. Couples sit as a group during educational and information sessions, however no group participation or public disclosure is involved.

The Venue

We were very purposeful in selecting Mandoon Estate to host our relationship retreats. As Tracey will show you in this very short video the grounds give you lots of wonderful spaces to spread out and do the individual exercises, and the room itself is large enough to have your own space while being comfortable enough to sit back and take in the valuable content.

While it is most convenient to stay overnight at Mandoon, we do allow enough time for you to move between other accommodation if you chose to stay elsewhere. Our day runs from 9:30am – 4:30pm. There are a lot of other gorgeous places to stay in the Swan Valley which can be found through this link

From the airport, Mandoon Estate is approximately a 20-25min drive.
